72.) In 1999, United States President William Clinton, wrote a letter to the people gathered in Canandaigua, NY to celebrate the Treaty of 1794 between the Iroquois Nations and the United States. Here is that letter, officially recognizing the "Six Nations and the United States as sovereign entities". Haudenosaunee Chief Vincent Johnson stated that this treaty was signed because George Washington surrendered to the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. (2 min. read)

And in the 1980s, William Barr who was then the Personal Attorney to President Ronald Reagan, agreed with Chief Vincent Johnson, that yes in fact, George Washington did surrender to the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. William Barr also related to Chief Johnson, that in private, he will refer to them as the Haudenosaunee, but in public the government will never refer to them as the Haudenosaunee or the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. William Barr continued and said the United States will only refer to the Haudenosaunee in public as the Iroquois or Six Nations. The Treaty of 1794, is also commonly referred to as the Canandaigua Treaty.  Here is the letter in its entirety: The White House Washington November 10th, 1999 Warm greetings to everyone gathered in Canandaigua, New york, to celebrate the Treaty of 1794 between the Iroquois Nations and the United States. This historic treaty, signed by President Washington, recognize the Six Nations and the United States as sovereign entities. Art...

71.) It is a Haudenosaunee teaching, that we are not to join groups, or divide ourselves into groups. And what the late Haudenosaunee Chief Jake Thomas had to say about it. (7 min. read)

This is one of the Haudenosaunee teachings that the old people would always say. Along with "NO CHANGE". It is a warning, that we are not supposed to break up into groups within the Haudenosaunee circle, or join groups outside the Haudenosaunee circle. I've been talking to various Haudenosaunee people and we always seem to be coming to the same conclusion when we are viewing a situation. The current situation, is when our people are breaking up into groups or joining groups. These groups can be something as benign as joining the Rotery Club or something as bad as joining the "warriors", "men's fire", "indian act- band councils" of Canada or the Bureau of Indian Affairs "Tribal governments" in the United States.  Anytime a Haudenosaunee joins these groups, they are immediately removing themselves from the Circle of the Haudenosaunee. They are violating the Two Row Treaty, by taking themselves out of the Indian canoe and putting ...

70.) 'Please remember to flush the toilet-The people in Ohsweken need water to drink', written on a bathroom wall in a Brantford, Ontario restaurant. And is the 41 million dollar Grand River water filtration plant a human experiment on the people and children of Six Nations. (10 min. read)

A friend relayed this information to me a few years ago. Brantford is located on the Grand River, several miles upstream from Six Nations and the Six Nation's Grand River drinking water intake for Ohsweken, the main village on Six Nations territory.  Brantford is one of many cities, such as Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph and Cambridge that are upstream from Six Nations, that dump their "effluent"- residential, and hospital sewage, sometimes raw sewage, industrial dumping and storm runoff, directly into the Grand River. Also upstream from Six Nations, you have all the other numerous small towns, villages and houses, that dump their "effulent" directly into the Grand River. This includes, but not limited to the- residential, hospitals, businesses, industrial locations and farms that also dump their "effluent" into the Grand River. Add to that, the illegal dumping of hazardous waste into the Grand River, all upstream from the Six Nations water intake. And o...
