75.) In the early 1900's, this document was part of Great Britain's evidence that was used during the Arbitration with the United States, on behalf of the Cayuga Indians. Articles 75 through 80 are from the same book. (3 min. read )

I will first present this legal document, followed by the explanation of the source, which is one of the secret books from the "shadow libraries"(see article 67.), that the public is forbidden from reading.

Here from that book, is "Reply Annex 1". They use the phrase "Reply Annex" in place of "chapter", throughout the book. This book is a legal document, as per that arbitration.

Here's the first page and Annex from that book:

"INDIAN NATIONAL AND FAMILY RELATIONS

REPLY ANNEX 1.

'The Iroquois Book of Rites,' edited by Horatio Hale, M. A., published as No. 2 of the Library of Aboriginal American Literature; edited by D.G. Brenton, M.D., Philadelphia, 1883.

Page 34. When by the events of the Revolutionary war the original confederacy was broken up, the larger portion of the people followed Brant to Canada. The refugees comprise nearly the whole of the Caniengas"  (Mohawks)  "and the greater part of the Onondagos and Cayugas, with many members of the other nations. In Canada their first proceeding was to re-establish, as far as possible their ancient league, with all its laws and ceremonies. The Onondagos had brought with them most of their wampum records, and the Caniengas jealously preserve the memories of the federation, in whose formation they had borne a leading part. The history of the league continued to be the topic of their orators whenever a new chief was installed into office. Thus the remembrance of the facts have been preserved among them with much clearness and precision and with little admixture of mythological elements. With the fragments of the tribe which remained on the southern side of the Great Lakes the case was very different. A feeble pretense was made for a time of keeping up the semblance of the old confederacy, but except among the Senecas, who, of all the five nations, had had least to do with the formation of the league, the ancient families which had furnished the members of the Senate and were the conservators of their history, had mostly fled to Canada or to the West:---"

End of Passage from the book titled: Arbitration of Outstanding Pecuniary Claims Between Great Britain and United States of America, the Cayuga Indians, Reply of His Britannic Majesty's Government in support of the claim. Volume II. Ottawa, government printing bureau, 1914. 58433-1.

See Article 63 for link to this book in the Hathitrust Digital Library.

This book is filled with information like this. The section titled "Various Records from Canadian Archives", Reply Annexe's 54- 64, are especially important.

The 5 articles that follow this one (76-80), are excerpts and dispatches from this book. These excerpts and dispatches are being presented not as forming opinion, but as an enticement for the reader, to read the entire Reply Annex being exerted from. Because these excerpts could be viewed as taking things out of context, it is advised that the reader rearch out and read the entire Reply Annex to formulate their own opinion. And reading the whole book is necessary to put all the Reply Annexes in context.

The whole book needs to be read by everyone who not only has an interest in the Cayuga Nation, but the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and it's relationships with England, Canada and the United States during and after the Revolutionary War. I have yet to be able to find this book in modern print. It is only available through digital libraries and old books for sale on the internet.
