The following Position Statement was publicly released by the Haudenosaunee Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs, Clanmothers and Longhouse People, on November 16, 2017. It was then discussed and passed at a Haudenosaunee Grand Council. And it was also discussed and passed at the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council at Grand River Territory. The late Tuscarora Chief Leo Henry also gave in Chiefs Council, a fiery condemnation of the cannabis industry on all Haudenosaunee Territories. The Cayuga Nation also has a similar Position Statement condemning the cannabis industry.

Here is the Position Statement:

"The Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs, Clanmothers , and people of the Longhouse DO NOT support the, growing of, or use of, cannabis by anyone as this is a "Mind Changer"and the message being sent to our young people would be wrong. Like alcohol, which is "Legal", "Cannabis" or "weed" can destroy our people's "minds" and cause us to FORGET who we are."
